In the rains of November 2009

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon
men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that
emanates from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews
a weary spirit.

- Robert Louis Stevenson

                      Ashoka leaves dripping with water
The Ashoka or Saraca indica L is an important tree found in India. Many myths, traditions and lores are associated with it. The tree has different names in various Indian languages. It is mainly used for beautifying. Wikipedia has a page on this tree. It would be wonderful if we try and learn more about the trees that form part of our Campus. They are as vital as the other organisms.

This is another picture taken during the same rains. I do not know the name of this species but I do know that it was taking in the water and felt rejuvenated.
